June 20th…
Summer Solstice is upon us.
Good.
I’m exhausted.
The rising energy is at its peak in the Northern Hemisphere.
Have you been feeling it?
For months now, just like every year, the energy of the Maiden Earth has been increasing exponentially… Tomorrow, when the Solstice arrives… the much awaited nurturing pause of the Summer season begins.
Indeed the Summer energy, the Mother energy is a static one, not a growing one like the Spring Maiden’s one.
And to me, that means respite.
At the end of Spring, every year, I feel exhausted by the ever growing energy, by the “demands” of the Spring season… And I know I can relax into Summer, relax into the Mother’s energy, knowing She (and I) are at our pinnacle of energy and will get things done in joy and “chilliness” rather than in the pushiness the Maiden sometimes asks of me!!
So I welcome the Summer Solstice, also known as Midsummer or Litha, which holds great symbolic significance across various cultures and traditions. As the longest day and shortest night of the year, this astronomical event marks the pinnacle of the sun's power and radiance. It is a time of abundance, vitality, and the celebration of light.
Symbolically, the Summer Solstice represents the triumph of light over darkness. It serves as a powerful metaphor for personal growth, renewal, and transformation. Just as the sun reaches its zenith in the sky, this solstice encourages us to embrace our own inner light and shine brightly in the world. It is a reminder to honor and cultivate our unique talents, passions, and potential.
The Summer Solstice is also closely associated with nature and the cycle of life. It is a time of bountiful harvests, when the Earth is teeming with vibrant energy and fertility. Symbolically, this represents the fruition of our efforts, the reaping of what we have sown in our lives. It encourages us to recognize and appreciate the abundance and beauty that surrounds us, both in the natural world and within ourselves.
Furthermore, the Summer Solstice holds deep spiritual significance. Many ancient cultures viewed this day as a sacred threshold, a portal between the earthly and the divine realms. It is a time when the veil between worlds is said to be thin, allowing for heightened intuition, spiritual insights, and connections with higher realms. It invites us to connect with the sacred energies of the universe, align with our spiritual path, and seek enlightenment.
In addition to its spiritual and metaphorical meanings, the Summer Solstice is a time of joyous celebration and community. Festivals, bonfires, and gatherings are held to honor the sun, express gratitude for the abundance of nature, and foster a sense of unity and shared experiences.
Overall, the symbolic significance of the Summer Solstice encompasses themes of light, growth, abundance, transformation, spiritual connection, and communal celebration. It serves as a potent reminder to embrace our own inner light, honor the cycles of nature, and find harmony within ourselves and the world around us.
And I welcome Summer… and all of its symbolic meanings that evoke a sense of warmth, vitality, and vibrant energy. It represents a period of growth, joy, and the fullness of life. Let's explore some of the symbolic aspects of summer.
First and foremost, summer symbolizes the power of the sun. The sun's radiance and intensity during this season symbolize vitality, light, and life-giving energy. It serves as a reminder of the life-sustaining force that illuminates our world, nourishes nature, and brings forth abundance.
Summer is also closely associated with nature's bounty. It is a time of flourishing vegetation, blooming flowers, and abundant harvests. The lushness and vibrancy of summer landscapes symbolize fertility, abundance, and the culmination of growth and fruition. It encourages us to appreciate the abundance and beauty present in our lives and to connect with the cycles of nature.
Furthermore, summer signifies a sense of freedom and liberation. With longer days and pleasant weather, people often engage in outdoor activities, vacations, and leisure pursuits. It represents a break from routine, a time to relax, unwind, and embrace the joys of life. Summer's symbolism reminds us of the importance of playfulness, spontaneity, and enjoying the simple pleasures that life has to offer.
In addition, summer symbolizes transformation and personal growth. It is a season of expansion and exploration, where we have the opportunity to step out of our comfort zones, try new experiences, and embark on adventures. The warmth and vitality of summer inspire us to embrace change, pursue our passions, and embrace the fullness of our potential.
Finally, summer carries a sense of nostalgia and cherished memories. It symbolizes carefree days, childhood innocence, and moments of pure happiness. The experiences and emotions associated with summer often evoke a sense of joy, nostalgia, and a longing for simpler times.
In essence, the symbolic meaning of summer encompasses themes of vitality, abundance, growth, freedom, transformation, and cherished memories. It encourages us to embrace the energy of the sun, connect with nature's cycles, pursue personal growth, and savor the joys of life.
And to better bask in the Summer energy, I give myself permission to relax, retire a little from the hustle and bustle of the world and Social Media and focus on enjoying life, finally taking time to write and create, using all the tools handed to me by Demeter, Greek Goddess of creativity, fertility and Harvest and Queen of Summer, to enjoy the season and chill!

PS: Sorry about the delay in this post being posted… I had no power and no internet for 48 hours, consequently to a “storm” that destroyed mostly everything in my area and has now been requalified as a tornado… unheard of in France…
I am safe, so is my family despite our house being flooded with both water and huge piles of mud…
My house is drying slowly, we still have a looooooot of cleaning up to do, we actually had a river of mud flowing THROUGH the house Wednesday night....
But hey no big deal, people have lost limbs, roofs, cars, whole businesses, etc...
Feeling so grateful it was "nothing" for us...
I've spent most of the day cooking the contents of my 2 freezers so they wouldn't go to waste... Everything had thoroughly defrosted by the time the power came back…
I'm back online now ! Power is back, so is my internet connection…
But isn't it “funny” that I’d write about Summer Solstice 3 days before I get flooded in a mini tornado… The Universe does have a sense of humour… Since indeed I couldn’t do much work without power or internet!!
