Stories of New York City, episode 1

dreams, lifestory, New York, NYC

As I step out onto the bustling streets of Manhattan, I'm instantly swept up in the whirlwind of energy that defines this city and that I remember so well. I haven’t been here for 34 years. The honking of taxis, the chatter of pedestrians, the scent of street food wafting through the air – it's a symphony of urban life, and I'm ready to dive right in again.

Last time I was here… 1990. It was my honeymoon.

I remember everything.

Today is 2024 and I’m here with my bestie, her first time in NYC.

Both of us are movie buffs and we’ve seen this city under every angle. Today I can't help but feel like I've stumbled onto the set of a blockbuster movie. I’m so excited!!

Ah, New York City! The Big Apple, the city that never sleeps, the concrete jungle where dreams are made of. Stepping foot onto the streets of Manhattan is like entering a whirlwind of excitement, with towering skyscrapers kissing the sky and a cacophony of sounds that somehow blend into a symphony of urban life.

First stop, Times Square! Picture this: neon lights flashing, giant billboards competing for your attention, and throngs of people from every corner of the globe snapping selfies. It's like being in the heart of a technicolor dream. Sure, it's touristy, but hey, you can't visit NYC without doing the Times Square shuffle at least once! And we need tickets to a Broadway show (at least!!) so we’ll visit the TKTS booth early and see what's on!

As I continue my exploration of this vibrant city, I decide to take a detour to Roosevelt Island, a hidden gem nestled in the East River. Boarding the iconic Roosevelt Island Tramway, I'm treated to breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline as we glide high above the water. It's a peaceful escape from the city below, and as I step off the tram and onto the island, I'm struck by its serene beauty.

Roosevelt Island offers a tranquil retreat from the frenetic pace of Manhattan, with lush green parks and tree-lined promenades perfect for a leisurely stroll. I wander past historic landmarks like the abandoned Smallpox Hospital and the iconic lighthouse, each one whispering tales of the island's storied past.

No trip to New York City is complete without ascending to the heavens at the Top of the Rock Observation Deck. Perched high atop the iconic Rockefeller Center, this sky-high vantage point offers unparalleled views of the cityscape below, with panoramic vistas stretching as far as the eye can see. As I step onto the observation deck, I'm immediately struck by the sheer magnitude of the city laid out before me – the towering skyscrapers, the winding rivers, the bustling streets far below. It's a perspective that simply can't be captured from ground level, and as I gaze out at the breathtaking panorama, I can't help but feel a sense of wonder and awe at the vastness of New York City. So, if you ever find yourself in the Big Apple, don't forget to look up – because you never know what wonders await at the top of the world.

But wait, let's talk about food! Because let's face it, one of the best things about traveling is indulging in delicious eats. In Manhattan, you can't go wrong with a classic New York slice from Joe's Pizza or a mouthwatering pastrami sandwich from Katz's Delicatessen. And if you're feeling fancy, treat yourself to a meal at one of the city's countless Michelin-starred restaurants (or not, we are more of the street food type!)

As much as I love the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, there's something about Brooklyn that calls to me. So I hop on the subway and make my way across the East River, emerging onto the streets of Williamsburg with its graffiti-adorned walls and vintage shops. It's like stepping into a hipster paradise, and I can't wait to explore every quirky corner.

Next stop: the Brooklyn Bridge. As I stroll back to Manhattan across its iconic span, I'm treated to panoramic views of the city skyline shimmering in the distance. It's a sight that never fails to take my breath away, reminding me of the endless possibilities that await in this concrete jungle.

As the sun sets on another day in the city, I can't help but feel grateful for the endless adventures that await around every corner. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned New Yorker, there's always something new to discover in this vibrant, eclectic metropolis.

When the clock strikes midnight and the city shows no signs of slowing down, I realize that this is what makes New York City truly special – its endless array of cultural experiences just waiting to be discovered. As I make my way back to my hotel, painful feet and neck from all the skyscraper gazing, I remember how this city has a way of capturing your heart and leaving you hungry for more. And as I drift off to sleep, I know that tomorrow will bring even more adventures in the city that never sleeps.

So here's to New York City – may your streets be lively, your pizza always be hot, and your dreams be as big as the skyscrapers that tower above them!

Wait… Did I already do that? Have I just been experiencing these amazing adventures?

Nope.

This is Isaya from the past writing this post on April 18th, 2024.

Getting ready. Packing. Preparing. Dreaming my New York City stay.

I really hope it’s going to be just as amazing as I’m dreaming it.

And you know what.

It’s going to be.

Because I’ll make it!

Because this is me making my dreams come true.

And… I don’t have time to "share". I’m IN it!!

More about my actual NYC trip when I’m back next week!

In the meantime, I have a question for you…

Which of YOUR dreams are you making true?

Because if I can. You can too!

Let’s do this!

So much for today...

I would be so happy to hear from you about all that.

Thank you in advance for your comment.

See you soon, for my next online adventures!

Until then I send you love, light and gratitude.

Isaya
