Working with my client Tracey Kissoon on her course about Rewiring your Brain to reduce your Chronic Pain (interested? check that out here: https://payhip.com/b/nCulR), I started reading some stuff about the brain…
Neurology is an emerging science and there are discoveries every day, it’s fascinating…
So yes, the other day, I was reading about this new study that proves that there are different areas of the brain that solve different problems… in a different way, using different methods!
And that each of us has ALL those areas in her brain, of course, but some are more developed than others AND we can train the "under-developed" ones to get better…
Yet knowing which part of our brain is highly "functional" means we can use that part when we need a fast answer or a quick solution…
Now, for some examples to help you understand…
Some of us learn by talking out loud, repeating and unfolding vocally and thus find their answers when talking to someone… And that is why good friends, coaches and the like are crucial to these people.
Some people solve problems … by writing… So journaling is a main tool that should not be forgotten… Or copying the information to sum it up and extract the essentials.
Some others learn by reading, without taking any notes… Just reading the words is enough...
There are three main modes of perception of the world (also called modalities):
- Kinesthetics who need to move their bodies to learn and memorize,
- Visuals who only memorize visually and photograph each information as an image in their minds,
- Auditory who retain with their ears and will find solutions by listening… So they take courses, listen to conferences and podcasts … And their minds come up with their personal solutions.
Of course you understand how important it is to understand how your own individual brain functions best: to make your life easier and your thinking and learning process more efficient.
You can take a free test here for example… https://psychologia.co/perception-test/
Of course it’s not bullet proof and you might want to refine that; which you can do by observing and taking note to understand how your brain and your mind function…
And of course our brains mostly use a combination of those 3 modalities…
Still the test will give you an indication on your basic way to perceive, interact and memorize…
Your very own brain MBI (Magic Brain Imaging)!
Once you understand how you function and what works for you, the world becomes so much easier to navigate… And it unlocks a super power… or many!
And then you can decide to "work" on enhancing, rewiring your brain to make it "better" in the areas that are more challenging…
Playing visual games (memory games) will increase your Visual perceptions, listening to podcasts regularly, maybe while taking notes, will help you build up your Auditory capacities and writing skills, dancing while singing the lyrics of a song will accelerate your kinesthetic abilities, etc, etc.
But it is not a race.
It is not a competition.
You don’t need to make your brain "better".
Your brain is perfect the way it is… as long as it keeps you happy!
Now, one way to increase your brain functions AND your happiness… is to use affirmations.
And guess what… you can use affirmations in ALL the modalities above…
You can read Positive Affirmations.
You can write Positive Affirmations.
You can create graphics with Positive Affirmations. (try Canva.com … or a bunch of colored pens!) … Then put the somewhere you can watch the everyday!
You can recite Positive Affirmations (try doing that in front of your bathroom mirror for a boost in self-confidence and self-love!)
You can sing Positive Affirmations! (hey that is what Mantras are all about!)
You can dance to Positive Affirmations (Find Positive Affirmations playlists with music on You Tube… this one for instance: https://youtu.be/j_P_7AqgS0c)
Just use Positive Affirmations everywhere and in every way… They work, I promise!
Here is my favorite ones…
I am safe.
I am enough.
I do enough.
I have enough.
I am worthy of the best in life.
I love and honor myself daily.
I am worthy of my love.
I am my best support.
Or create your own…
But yes… They work.
At one condition…
Whichever way you decide to use them… DO IT!
What I’m saying is that sometimes…
We know what to do.
We know how to do it.
We just don’t do it…
And wonder why "it doesn’t work"…
My superpowers are Visual and Writing (I "remember" pretty much everything I’ve seen… and unfold my thoughts in my journal daily...)
What is your super power?
I’d love to know!
I would be so happy to hear from you about all that. Thank you in advance for your comment.
So much for today ...
See you soon, for my next online adventures!
Until then I send you love, light and gratitude.
